With advanced CEREC® technology, we can design, create, and place many ceramic crowns in a single visit—helping you restore your tooth without the need for a temporary crown or a second appointment.

Hello, I am Dr Alexis Brown. I do restorative dentistry at Family Holistic Dentistry. When I see you for fillings or crowns, at the beginning of the appointment, you will be allowed to ask questions and have any concerns truly listened to and addressed. I will ensure your dental treatment is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. From start to finish, all fillings and crowns will be completed by me, the dentist, not a dental assistant. I will use state-of-the-art dental technology, equipment, and premium materials to ensure you have the best care available.

About Dr. Brown

Dr. Alexis Brown is a graduate of Baylor University Dental School and has been using CEREC technology for over ten years.

Cerec Process:

  1. Tooth Preparation: The procedure starts with Dr Brown preparing the affected tooth, which involves cleaning and shaping it to ensure the new restoration fits perfectly.

  2. Digital Impression: Next, we digitally scan the patient's mouth. This method is far more comfortable and accurate than traditional dental impressions, which involve goopy materials.

  3. Design and Fabrication: Dr. Brown then uses the digital images to design the restoration on a computer. This design is sent directly to an in-office milling machine, which carves the restoration out of a ceramic block. While it mills and cools, the patient can rest or take a walk in the neighborhood.

  4. Final Fit and Placement: After 45 minutes to an hour, Dr Brown tests the fit of the new restoration. If adjustments are needed, they can be made immediately. Once an ideal fit is confirmed, the restoration is polished and bonded to the tooth, and the patient can leave with their new crown.

Dr. Brown explains the process and demonstrates the CEREC technology for same-day crowns at Family Holistic Dentistry.

Numbness typically lasts 3-4 hours, so stick to soft foods like smoothies, yogurt, or bananas until sensation returns to avoid accidental biting. Some sensitivity or mild soreness is normal and usually resolves quickly. For jaw tightness or discomfort, gentle care, warm compresses, and red light therapy can help with healing. Sensitivity to hot or cold may occur but improves within a few days to weeks. If your bite feels off after the numbness wears off, a quick adjustment can resolve it. Our team is here to support your healing journey—feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns!
